Damian Moss Hardball

Damian was born on November 4, 1976 in Darlinghurst, Australia. At a very early age Damian began playing baseball and fell in love with the sport. In 1993, at the age of 16, Damian signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Braves. Damian excelled through the Braves farm system, earning his place on four all star teams in the years 1994, 1995, 1996, and 2000, broke the South Atlantic League in strike outs in 1994, placed in the top ten as a top prospect in 1993- 1998. In 1996, Damian played with the Durham Bulls, where his jersey is now retired. In 2000 he was named Richmond Braves Pitcher of the year. Damian made his major league debut on April 26, 2001. His rookie year was a success as he posted a 12-6 record, 3.42 ERA, and held opponents to a .221 batting average. These numbers warranted him Rookie of the Year consideration, in which he placed 5th. Damian went on to play with the San Francisco Giants, Baltimore Orioles, and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. During Damian’s 17 year career he had the privilege of playing and learning from some of the best in the game including, Tom Glavine, Greg Maddux, John Smoltz, Bobby Cox, Leo Mazzone, Chipper Jones, Andruw Jones, Barry Bonds and the list goes on. He now lives in Georgia with his wife, Emilie, and three daughters, Isabella, Adelaide and Demmie. Since Damian’s retirement in 2010, he is devoting his life to teaching kids about the love of the game and the love he has for God. Damian has teamed up with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes to put these camps together. Fundamentals and sportsmanship are areas he stresses to allow students to become the best players they can be. His camps are led by him, other experienced coaches and are based on major league type work outs and strategies to give kids a feel for what it would be like to play major league baseball, an experience unparalleled by any other camp.
